knicks and knacks from Canon Press.
Filed under: *New* Books & Audio, Behind the Scenes, Promos & Giveaways by Frank @ 2:26 pmBy now, you faithful readers have probably figured out that this blog is kind of our bulletin board to let you know what’s new at Canon Press. The trouble is, we don’t want you to think that the blog is just a series of advertisements. After all, who really wants to read that? So, we’ve been trying to spruce up—solicit a few guest posts, quiz some of our authors on their books, and give you all a taste of what’s it like to work at Canon. (And no, you have no idea yet. Trust me.)
But there are also a lot of little updates and additions to our website: new books from other publishers, sneak previews for what’s ahead, new covers on classic Canon titles, and more. And since all those little things aren’t enough for a blog post on their own, I thought I’d post a collection here, just to make sure you don’t miss out on what’s up.
[one] Did you know that there is a 100 Cupboards AudioBook? Well, there is—narrated by Russell Horton and published by Random House. This audio book is engaging for both kids and adults, and it’s especially great for those vacation drives that tend to drag on a little. Also, keep your eyes posted on our Coming Soon! audio page for other new Canon Press audio books.
[two] On the theological side of things, we’ve started carrying Pierced for Our Transgressions, a defense of the doctrine of penal substitution. Now, before you say, “Oh no, that’s way too doctrinal for me,” take a second look. As Pastor Wilson wrote on his blog, “it is both a necessary book and a fantastic book. It is necessary because the current zeitgeist wants to drift away from penal substitution without talking about it, and it is a fantastic book because it shows how biblical and how crucial this particular doctrine is.” So go on, click on the cover for more information. You won’t be sorry.
[three] Our good friends at Christian Book Distributors have just made us our own store page on their website. Cool, huh? Go ahead and tell all your friends to check us out. They’ve got pretty much the entire Canon catalog on sale there, and we’re excited that they’ve given us our own little section.
[four] We’ve got new releases coming up this summer and fall. We’re currently putting the finishing touches on publishing Doug Wilson’s debate with Christopher Hitchens (originally hosted on ChristianityToday.com), a smaller book on worship, and a layman’s introduction to postmillennialism (which, by the way, doesn’t use that word once). We’re really pumped about what’s in store, so be sure to keep an eye here—you won’t find out faster from anywhere else!
[five] Are you subscribed to our email newsletter? No? It’s a shame. We just sent out a 25% off coupon good for all Canon Press products for the next 10 days. But, since we’d like to think we’re nice people, we’ll give you another chance. Subscribe today, and the coupon will be sent straight to your inbox, ready for use. Happy Springtime.
