Do You Review?

Do you have a blog? Do you write for a magazine or a newsletter? Do you enjoy reading Douglas Wilson?

If you answered “Yes” to any of those questions, then I have a question for you: are you interested in reviewing some of our upcoming titles?
A Primer on Worship and Reformation
You may have seen the cover for the first—A Primer on Worship and Reformation: Recovering the High Church Puritan. Don’t let the “primer” bit fool you: this is a short but powerful book. We’d even call it edgy. Pastor Wilson doesn’t mince words as he blames our apathetic worship for the woes we’re so fond of woeing. But it’s not just a critique: think of it as the book you would give out to your friends who ask, “So, what’s the deal with covenant renewal worship?” Or, in another vein, think of it as a way of getting people ready for Jeff Meyers’ Lord’s Service.

The other is one we’re slowly unveiling. (We’re putting the finishing touches on the cover right now!) It’s called Heaven Misplaced: Christ’s Kingdom on Earth. What do we mean by that? Well, actually, you’ll have to read the book to find out. But we will say this:

  • It’s an introduction to postmillennialism and eschatology that avoids all of the regular vocabulary that makes eschatological literature so, well, boring.
  • It explores eschatology through the question, “What kind of story does the Bible tell?”
  • Did you know that the book of Galatians deals with eschatology?
  • This is a book for people who wish it was Christmas every day.
  • As Laura put it, this book gets at “the meaning of life” questions that are in the back of every person’s mind. It will help you—and your friend who doesn’t even know what “eschatology” is—understand why eschatology matters.

Back to the beginning. Are you interested in reviewing either of these books? Or, better yet, do you have a non-Reformed, non-postmillennial friend that might be interested in giving these a go? You don’t have to explain it all to them: just hand it over and let them see for themselves. We’d love to know what they think, and any reviews we get back, we’ll post here. The first fifty people who volunteer will receive a galley (pre-publication) copy to review now, and a complimentary bound copy when the books release.

So, please, let us know if you’re interested. Pass this note on to your friends. Or, if you just want to read the books, pre-order them now. We’re not kidding when we say they’re worth getting excited about. They really are that good.

The ‘let us know’ link seems to be broken.

I would be interested in obtaining review copies of these (and any other Canon Press books) for a new UK journal of reformed theology.

I’m eager to review “Heaven Misplaced”.
